Sometimes life gets you down and you have the choice to either laugh or cry. Sometimes you may begin crying and then realize whatever it is that's troubling you isn't the end of the world. This might cause you to laugh at yourself.Case In Point
In today's global market there are times I wonder how on earth we will continue to compete. Customers say they can get work done overseas for a fraction of the cost, as to suggest one's product is over priced.
At the moment I am taking this on as a challenge, but there are times when I just want to cry at the complexity of the situation. Then you come across something like this.
- I was feeling a bit depressed the other day, so I called the Depression Help Hotline.
- I was put through to a 'call center' in Pakistan.
- I explained that I was feeling suicidal.
- They were very excited at this news and wanted to know if I could drive a truck or fly an airplane....
Ah, Humor!!
Thank you Lyn. I needed that.
Challenge
Much bigger than winning over an obstacle, you must remember to keep a sense of humor through it all. In order to keep your perspective and sense of humor you will most likely always need a support system to prop you up and send you funny notes.
I still feel most of my internal support engine comes from my Gram who I wrote about in "It's a Laughing Matter." Thanks Lyn for not only making me laugh, but reminding me of why I laugh.

Thanks for the blog. I am sure that we will continue to benefit from your experience, especially on 'hot topic' items like overseas outsourcing. Good to know that I can 'contribute' if it ever gets that far :) It's not just overseas that can be frustrating though. Right here in town people come in and want a quote. I give the best pricing I can and I get 'last time I paid $___, why are you so high?' and I want to say 'if you were so happy then why are you shopping it?' People don't just imply around here they will outright tell me. You are right keeping a sense of humor is critical. It can also be very difficult.
