"A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge."
- Thomas Carlyle, Scottish essayist, satirist, and historian (1795-1881)Doctors study what makes the body function. Parents often wonder what makes their child "tick". Teachers wonder how they will get their point across to their students. Many times the answer is found in motivation.
Human nature is to draw near people or topics which we find amusing. A computer minute is closer to several hours because we tend to get engrossed in what we're doing and time flies by. A contrast may be to complete your annual taxes where several hours seem like a year.
Many of us have heard one route to happiness is to take a subject you truly enjoy and find a way to make a living at it. This was advice I was given and I took seriously. Today I am now the head of one of the most exciting embroidery design firms in the USA if not the world.
Was it easy because I loved what I was doing? No, but it was enjoyable, rewarding and I always felt motivated to keep coming back day after day, even to this day I am excited about what I do. Am I rich or even better off than if I had remained at the job I had? That depends on your definition of rich. Monetarily I am not as well off, but in regards to happiness I am ten times better off than where I was.
I like the Thomas Moore I am today, I did not like the person I was 15 years ago. A loving heart truly is the beginning of knowledge. Knowledge is power, the power to do good, to be productive, to make a positive difference in the world.
Love and Knowledge can be a cycle and it is a cycle I prefer and strive to remain in. As I gain more knowledge and share this knowledge willingly, others are attracted to me both in my personal and professional life. It's a comforting place to be and thus I am happy.
Serving others will make you feel good about yourself and my way to serve is through knowledge. Life truly is good!
