People like surprises, it’s just that simple. A surprise can be exciting like a thrilling ride, raising the heart rate and pumping blood through the entire body. This goes for customers and employees as well. Sometimes an act of appreciation bundled as a surprise can have a lasting effect on the recipient. This helps to show how much you appreciate them and it will embed the memory well which helps to bring you closer. This is just one of the things great relationships are made of.
Case in point
Several times in the past we have been hard at work when a delivery person comes to our door with a surprise from a customer no less. You talk about a surprise. A customer sent US something.
We have received cookie bouquets, boxes of donuts and once Rhonda sent a birthday cake in the shape of a dog for us all to share. These were acts of kindness and appreciation which in turn make us want to do something nice for someone else in return.
The act can be small, such as a Starbucks run for everyone, or a bottle of wine the staff gave me this past “bosses day”. I thought of each of them as I drank the wine and wished we could have all shared it there on my patio, with the fire pit roaring. Oh well, I had to drink it alone but I thought of them at the time. LOL!
Challenge
Is there someone you could surprise with an act of appreciation?
Is there a customer who you would really like to thank?
What would a small token of kindness actually cost compared to the benefit someone else would enjoy?
How long will you wait to act on this?

I totally agree...I have seen the positive results from appreciation and giving - it tends to keep
your business and priorities in perspective,
and besides, it feels good to know you have
surprised and delighted someone... try it... you'll
like it!
